One of our most ambitious projects to date....!

At 360imagery we just love it when we get asked to do something really different, and especially if it's a little challenging! As one of the leading suppliers in the UK of bespoke 360 virtual tours we have quite a collection of unusual tours on our portfolio page, ranging from inside helicopters to off the top of big wheels.

We were recently asked to combine a 360-degree view of inside each car in the Vauxhall range with the ability to take a 360-degree walk around the outside too - all brought together to create one easy-to-use virtual tour. Clever stuff and definitely one of our most ambitious projects to date.

To give you an idea of the scale of the project it involved taking over 4,000 photographs over 2 days of shooting, not an easy task cramped inside a car. Then followed hours and hours of 'the clever bit' back at the office to create the end result. It really tested our virtual tour and programming metal, but I'm sure you'll agree the end result is stunning, and highly effective. We were asked to create 14 tours in total - one for each car in the Vauxhall range. Each complete tour is made up of 250 individual photographs, shot in RAW format and using High Dynamic Range photography techniques. In total this comprised a whopping 100 gigabytes of photos! There really was no room for error - the slightest movement of our panoramic camera set-up would have resulted in a misaligned virtual tour scene. As with all our work, note that we also removed all of our camera gear, tripod, and shadows out of each scene.

 

The client wanted a 360-degree view of both the inside of each car combined with the ability to take a 360-degree walk around the outside too - all combined into one easy-to-use virtual tour. So next came the clever part, combining these two separate views together with an intuitive and interactive Graphic User Interface (GUI), all based around the clients logo and colour sway. The GUI we designed also incorporates social media channel buttons, news and a latest offers drop down menu. We were also asked to incorporate 'pop up' still images of the boot spaces of the cars, and 'pop out' YouTube video content of each car.

The project included creating a tour for a classic 1977 Vauxhall Viva in retro 'Amber Gold' that Perry's auctioned off on eBay in January 2014 for charity - raising a whopping £7189! Check out this tour by clicking here, or on the image below:

360imagery virtual tours for Pricewaterhouse Coopers

2013 was a busy year for 360imagery.....another new client that we were delighted to be working with was PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).  PwC is the world's second largest professional services firm with offices in 776 cities across 159 countries with revenues, in 2012, of $14.9 billion.

The client wanted to run a competition to link their office park in Liverpool, Tiger Court, with the proximity of Knowsley Safari Park,  – so devised a ‘find the tiger’ campaign. They came up with the original idea of using life-sized stuffed tigers throughout the tour, to encourage viewers to take a thorough walk about the buildings in their hunt for the animals! As part of their marketing campaign the virtual tour was then emailed to all Chartered Surveyors in the North West region, receiving a fantastic response. The prize up for grabs to the lucky winner who spotted all the hidden tigers was a year long free pass to the nearby Safari Park. The virtual tour is composed of 6 scenes, 2 of which are our trade-mark aerial mast panoramas taken from 8 metres. This uses a special technique we developed in house, and it is perfect for giving that wow factor opening shot to a tour. The viewer is guided by navigational arrows within the scenes, or by clicking on the 'next' & 'back' buttons to view each scene. There is also an interactive site plan.

PwC were delighted with our work and the boost a 360imagery virtual tour gave to their marketing campaign - and we are very pleased to say that we have since been commissioned again by PwC to create more bespoke tours. So watch this space....

We are very excited to be working with Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust, a new client for 360imagery in 2013. This Trust operates 23 Academies throughout the country - check out their website for more information about what they do http://www.greenwoodacademies.org/our-trusts/                 


We've created virtual tours of all sorts of places of learning - from Day Nurseries to Schools, Colleges and Universities to Museums. Our tours are viewed worldwide through the web, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving the client a broader audience to attract new students and visitors as an on line prospectus. We are being asked to work more and more often in this sector as the potential of a 360imagery virtual tour as a highly effective marketing tool is increasingly being recognised. Our work with the client began in 2013 with a bespoke virtual tour of Skegness Academy. The Trust were so impressed with the quality of our work, we were soon commissioned to complete similar tours for a further 7 academies in 2013, with another 5 booked in for this year - and it's only February!

To us, the tours may only be our usual 'standard' work of bespoke graphic design, high-definition photography optimised to run at full screen......but to the client, the tours emphasise the passion and dedication that goes to running each Academy.

Check out the opening mast scene on this tour, the photography taken at 8m high using our special technique devised in house. Useful information text boxes appear throughout the tour to inform and educate the viewer, whilst thumbnails and, in some tours, navigation arrows lead the viewer around the Academy. The tours really are like an 'on line' prospectus, showcasing the school at its best, in a really interactive way. Ever wondered what happened to the Olympic Village?!

Here at 360imagery we were really excited to be approached by Triathlon Homes, a new client for us in 2013, to produce a number of our stunning 360 virtual tours for a recent project they were working on.

Triathlon Homes, a consortium of East Thames, Southern Housing Group and First Base, are converting 1,379 affordable homes in the Olympic Village development in Stratford, now known as East Village. The Former athletes accommodation is being converted into affordable rented, intermediate rented, part-buy, part-rent (shared ownership) and shared equity homes with a range of one to four bed homes to cater for individuals, couples and families.

A Very Busy Year Creating 360imagery Virtual Tours for Crest Nicholson!

360imagery were kept very busy in 2013 creating 360 virtual tours for Crest Nicholson, one of the largest house building companies in the UK. We have been their sole supplier of virtual tours for over 5 years and last year alone we completed over 20 tours for them.

On one occasion last year Crest had to resort to using a competitor - a show home had to be photographed on a specific date and unfortunately we were booked on another assignment. But no worries - they immediately came straight back to us and we have continued to create stunning 360imagery tours for them to the very high standards they have come to expect from us. With many new sites in the pipeline for 2014 we expect to be busy!

We recently completed another 2 tours for them at their Shaftesbury Gate development in London - a 4 bed, 3 storey town house and a 2 bed apartment. This is an example of a huge, 13 scene tour throughout the 3 storey show home and includes a pop up CGI image of the frontage of the building. This particular tour is a new direction for Crest Nicholson - it now adopts arrows within the scenes enabling the viewer to take a 'virtual walk' through, as well as interactive floor plans with interactive scene markers. The majority of our existing residential clients already make use of this greater detail and interactivity in their tours, and find it really engages the viewer - we are one of the few companies that offer such bespoke work as standard.

As with all our work, we take that extra special care and detail removing all of our equipment and camera/photographer reflections from mirrors and glass whereas the majority of our competitors don't have the experience, skill or attention to detail to bother.

Five Student Housing Virtual Tours Created by 360imagery

Private, self-funded student accommodation is becoming more and more popular throughout the UK. A virtual tour is the perfect way to market such a location as it means international students, as well as more local, can be targeted. The student is able to view the facilities from anywhere in the world, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. It showcases the site at its very best and being highly interactive it appeals to all ages, especially up-coming students.

360imagery have been working with the client on this project for the past 3-4 years, and have now created five virtual tours of their various 'study pods' in different cities across the UK. The client is a traditional, commercial property developer that branched out to start a new concept building 'study pods'. They approached 360imagery as with our background as Chartered Surveyors, and our 7 years experience of creating bespoke virtual tours in the field of commercial property (amongst many others now!), they were both familiar and impressed by our work. Their first 'study pod' was opened in Coventry, and since then they have created another two in this city, as well as an additional two in Nottingham and Sheffield. A 'study pod' is basically a small room with all of the facilities - a bed, study area, wet room and galley kitchen. The 360imagery virtual tours show off these rooms perfectly and demonstrate the different types and sizes of room to the viewer - e.g. deluxe, superior, studio room etc. There are also 360 panoramic scenes of the communal areas such as the laundry rooms, television room, gym and lounge.

The client wanted all of their properties to be viewed from within one tour, the different sites accessible by drop down menus, and as you can see we have also designed it all to blend seamlessly in with their existing website and corporate identity. As we do work on more properties they'll also be incorporated into this single tour, so look out for future blogs about our latest work with them.

Each tour is navigated by thumbnails and hotspots enabling the viewer to easily move between the rooms. There are also pop-up information boxes including photographic still images. All of our photography uses the very latest photographic equipment and technologies, and we will only ever use High Dynamic Range photography techniques, as standard. In a 360imagery piece of work you will never find imbalances between the high and low lights of an image, in other words NO blown out / glaring windows or loss of detail in photos. You only have to compare our end results to those produced using cheap 'off the shelf' packages offered by other companies to see the difference in the attention to detail and quality of the resulting tour.
