This commission took us back to one of our very favourite places in the UK - The Saracen's Head at Symond's Yat, for which we have a real soft spot! On a personal level we stay here nearly every year for a long weekend to go walking in the Black Mountains, but also Pete, Chris and his team are one of our longest-standing clients. So when Pete said they had updated some of the rooms and bar area, and needed a re-shoot, we jumped at the chance for a re-visit!
Unlike traditional paper marketing or videos, which can very quickly become quite dated (for example if rooms are refurbished), a virtual tour can easily have scenes re-shot and incorporated into the tour, giving it a much longer life and making it a more cost effective marketing tool.
This project also demonstrates the perfect use of a virtual tour - to showcase a brilliant gastro-pub/restaurant, bar and hotel in a really stunning location, nestled on the banks of the River Wye at Symond's Yat. It's a highly interactive tour that enables the viewer to explore not only the Saracen's Head and all it has to offer, but also to take a ride on the hand-drawn ferry across the river, to cross further upstream on the rope bridge long the dis-used railway line (now a cycle/walking path), or to even get a bird's eye view of the famous Yat Rock from 8 metres in the air........
The clever bit back at the office is then bringing all these scenes together to work as one complete, interactive virtual tour.
